A walkthrough of the BatchGuard: Expiry & Lots Shopify app
This screencast shows the merchant flow end to end: adding a lot with an expiry date, importing a delivery by CSV, seeing what’s expired and expiring on the dashboard, writing off a bad batch with one click, and the costed write-off report. An animated walkthrough of the app’s real screens using demo-store data; on-screen captions narrate each step (the video has no audio).
What the video covers
0:00 Dashboard — what needs attention: expired lots, expiring soon, and units at risk.
0:04 Install — products and inventory only. No customer data.
0:08 Add a lot — product, batch code, expiry date, quantity; optionally add it to available stock.
0:12 CSV import — a whole delivery matched to the right variant by SKU.
0:16 Needs-attention detail — expired and expiring-soon lots with live available stock.
0:21 Write off — one click pulls units from stock (capped at zero) with a reason, and records the cost.
0:26 Recently written off — dollar value per write-off, a 90-day total, Undo, and Export CSV.

Testing notes
Install on a development store with a few products. Add a lot (or import the sample CSV on the Lots page), then open the Dashboard to see the expiring/expired buckets. A write-off adjusts Shopify inventory — capped so it never goes below zero — and is reversible with Undo. The app reads and writes products and inventory only; it never reads customer data.
