Quotient Help

How-to guide and FAQ for the Quotient Shopify app

Quotient gives B2B and wholesale stores a real quoting workflow inside Shopify: buyers request quotes, you send priced offers, buyers accept in one click, and accepted quotes become Shopify draft orders with the agreed prices. It lives in your admin and never touches your theme.

Getting started

1. Set your rules. Open Settings and set the offer expiry (days), the auto-approve discount limit, your reply-to email, and the terms text that appears on every offer. Turn on email notifications so you hear about new requests.

2. Create your first quote. Go to Quotes and click Create quote. Add the buyer (company, contact, email), pick products from your catalog, set quantities, and enter the offered per-unit price. Quotient shows the discount percentage and estimated margin for every line as you type.

3. Send the offer. Add a message if you like and click Send offer. The buyer receives an email with a link to a clean quote page showing every line and the total. No login is needed to view or accept.

4. Convert. When the buyer accepts, the quote moves to Accepted and shows up in the "needs attention" list on the Overview. Open it and click Convert to draft order. Shopify creates a draft order with the exact negotiated prices, ready to invoice or complete.

Handling quote requests

Buyers can request quotes themselves: from their customer account on your store, or through the application flow below. Requests appear in Quotes with the buyer's note and line items. Open one, set your prices, and send the offer the same way as a quote you started yourself.

Every quote has a full timeline: requested, offered, viewed, accepted or declined, converted. If you make a wrong call, use Undo on the decision or reopen the quote.

Onboarding wholesale clients

1. Open Client applications and use the Application form link. Share it on your site or by email.

2. Submissions land in the applications queue with the company details the applicant entered.

3. Click Approve to create (or tag) the Shopify customer and send them an account invite, so they can start requesting quotes. Reject closes the application without creating a customer.

Plans and billing

Charges go through Shopify Billing. Plans are measured by offers sent per month.

Free: 3 offers per month. Growth ($19.50/month): 50 offers per month. Pro ($49.50/month): unlimited offers.

Change plans any time on the Plans page. Shopify shows an approval screen before a paid plan starts.

FAQ

Do buyers need a Shopify account to accept a quote?
No. The emailed quote link works without a login. A customer account is only involved if you use the in-account request form or approve them through the application queue.

Does Quotient change my theme or checkout?
No. It runs in the admin and, optionally, as a customer-account extension. There are no theme edits or scripts.

Where does the margin number come from?
From the cost per item you set on each variant in Shopify. Variants without a cost show margin as unknown.

What happens when an offer expires?
It expires automatically after the number of days in Settings and the buyer is notified before the deadline. You can send a fresh offer from the same quote.

What counts toward my monthly limit?
Each offer you send. Creating drafts, editing prices, and converting accepted quotes do not count.

What buyer data is stored?
The company, contact name, email, and the quote lines they requested or accepted. Quotient honors Shopify's customer data and erasure requests, and uninstalling deletes everything the app holds for your store.
